The joke is being told because the teller wants that truth out but the joke is a way of dressing it up to be less than an attack, insult, whatever the truth is.
Entwining the truth inside a joke is often what makes great satire comedy
I have noticed after recently using twitter it is a great platform for wit, sarcasm and satire quips.
It's no coincidence comedians use twitter and some do it well, some are just shown up to be much less than the comedian than thought to be, for me anyway, some are just plain fucking shit, and should be nowhere near twitter!
The instantness of twitter can really catch them out, some are just script followers and don't seem naturally funny with the written word, that and having to live and die by the reactions they get.
OK...some are great in the flesh and on tv but they are also prepared for that.
The time to write and the limitations of twitters 140 character count does make it a different medium altogether... Some who didn't seem funny are the opposite and really stand out on twitter for their speed of wit and often twitters limitations are the reason they stand out.
Twitter is some funny shit, at the start I said "wtf am I doing and is this damn thing working, wtf was all the fuss about in the media, why are people talking about this shit?"
But now, yes I get it!
